Anybody familiar with Chario

I have the Chario Academy Sonnets, their 2 way monitor.

What are your thoughts on those speakers overall? How do they do with classic rock and blues rock?

They seemed to me to be very non-fatiguing and tonally rich.

@bajaed   Hi. Agree with you on Chario being non-fatiguing and tonally rich. 

Not knowing you, your friend, nor your references and experience and ultimate preferences....providing advice / perspective is difficult.

It's unfortunate that Chario is not better known and represented in the U.S. There are a few U.S. owners who have posted on Agon, so I suggest looking at their posts. I have communicated with some and they have been happy with their Chario speakers. If I remember correctly, one owner drove their flagship Chario's with flagship Mastersound amps. You are much more likely to find information on the European / Italian forums using Google Translate.

If there is a dealer involved, tap into their understanding of where they position the speakers and have them provide comparative information versus other speakers and amplification.

The reverse array is well implemented. The tweeter used with my Sonnets is different than that of the Aria, so I can't transpose. I was impressed with the Rohacell driver. I found my two way to be coherent, something I am sensitive to.

The Arias are more sensitive, which is a very good thing. They are closer to being full range, also good! The down firing woofer is well thought out and implemented.

Regarding Primare or Boulder amplification, I'd choose Boulder to drive the Aviator Arias.

Yes he got the the Chario's with the Primare 35 series pre and amp. Built in DAC in the Primare  and the new Bluesound Node as a streamer. Isotek Aquarius and Siltech cords and cables. Went and heard it all hooked up together the other day and it's very, very good!

@bajaed  The Pre35 and A35.2... No Prisma module, with the Bluesound Node filling that role..., correct?

I should go beyond very very good. It’s sublime.

At first the Charia were so smooth and non fatiguing it threw me off. I thought I might not be hearing all the detail. But some critical listening to Dire Straits and Lenny by SRV sounded incredible with an amazing combination of detail, soundstage and warmth that I could listen to for hours.
