I would vote for requiring them to drop the price of cd's to no more than $9 per cd. But that'll never happen.

One of my co-workers used to be controller for one of the Big 5. He made the mistake of pointing out how they could improve their record keeping and make it easier to track their sales and their costs so they would know how much money they made. Their response? We don't WANT to have accurate recordkeeping. The more confusing the better. The better to confuse the artists and their auditors. The better to confuse the tax authorities. (True story)
