cartridge or stylis for sansui sr 838

I pulled this out of storage after some time . Would like to upgrade to a new cartridge or stylis before I put back in service . Recommendations would be appreciated . Dont really know where to start. MM or MC
Also interested in vinyl sound . Have some vintage gear that I plan on using for this set up.Think this would be fun with old gear .

I am not familiar with sr 838 but I have a 1970's Sansui
FR-5800 which works well with a Linn K9 cartridge. Unfortunately Linn no longer supply this cartridge but I believe it was actually made by Audio Technica so you might like to audition one of theirs.
