Car audio and cables
One awesome experience:
Bought some 6.5” co-axial, round JBL GTO 629 speakers for my Toyota SUV, WOW!!! I cannot believe the things I can hear now, that I NEVER could with the stock speakers! Amazing!! And this is only a 6.5” mid cone, and one soft-dome tweeter per speaker. I listened to Pioneer four way 6.5” speakers, mid cone center driver, plus: one bigger, center tweeter, plus two tiny tweeters, on each side of the center tweeter per speaker, the JBL speakers had WAY more treble, and bass!! Wasn’t even close! The Pioneer speakers sounded like crap vs. the JBL’s 629’s! And the JBL tweeters, you can rotate them to fire in any direction, mine are firing upwards, as the speakers are below my knees. BEEFY capacitors and frames as well! Very happy! BRAVO JBL!!! So much fun! Listening to old CD’s and hearing things I NEVER heard before! Best investment I’ve ever made in an auto system. Just replace the crap OEM speakers!! You’ll hear so much you never heard before! Again, WOW!
Now the strange:
This guy, I forget his name, but he reviews and tears apart speakers, and gives speaker wave-guides, freq. responses, etc. on YouTube. He was discussing speaker wire. Anyway, his way to “prove” that these and those speaker wires are better than others, was to hook them up to an old AM/FM receiver’s antenna inputs, and if the wires do not act as a good FM antenna, they are GREAT speaker wires! The poorer they work as an FM radio antenna, the better they are as speaker wire. Huh???? Can this be legit??? I’m NOT an expert, but this “test” reeks of stupidity. Or, am I wrong??? What say you all???
