"Wear a damn mask when you go out! A very minor inconvenience, for the collective benefit of all." As James Dean was supposed to say "the life you save may be your own". Or even, as he said, "the life you save may be mine". I forgot who it was, but to the poster who had to help Elvis with aliens. Do you mind asking if I can stop by for an autograph? I got Chuck Berry, I got Kris Kristofferson, I am missing Elvis and then I am practically done. |
cal91, "Nothing red can be in the listening room PERIOD. That is an absolute no no." And now you are telling me that. When I painted my rack red and bought red sofa. At least I learned why it all sounds like crap. |
"...just worried about yaβll using UV lights " Are tanning salons already open? |
coachpconnor, Bad day? We all have them. Hope today is better for you. |
twoleftears, mahgister,
Thanks, I just ordered those two CDs from above youtube promotional video. Letβs see if the recording quality is any good. It says it is from some reel-to-reel tapes of the performance so I guess it is the best we can hope for.
I do not know if it is a random number or some sad reminder, but my order is number 56. Not that high. |
mahgister, After reading this thread last night, I picked what Chopin I have for today's commute. It is Murray Perahia (link below) playing sonatas and some more. What do you think of his interpretations, if you have heard them? I must admit that, unlike Arrau andΒ NyiregyhΓ‘zi from youtube, I did not find it engaging at all. What is your take on it? I am a total ignorant when it comes to this.
https://www.discogs.com/Chopin-Murray-Perahia-4-Ballades/release/13320080
|
I guess I will go with Arrau and Chopin then. Now, I can just hope there are decent recordings of it. |
mahgister,
Are there any good (soundwise) recordings of Ervin NyiregyhΓ‘zi? Preferably on CD or download? All on youtube seems like dirty records.
|
mahgister,
Where would you put Claudio Arrau's interpretations of Chopin (I just listened to Nocturne #2)? Good? Bad? Average? I mean, compared to others you mentioned. I do like Claudio Arrau in general, but have no idea where his Chopin stands in the world of Chopin. |
I think that snarbut left this thread, if not audiogon, long time ago. |
phd,
"How about this one, if you reverse your cabling they will play the music backwards." You are late to the party. We already haveΒ one directionality expert here.
|
"This thread is a huge embarrassment for audiophiles..." Should we start another fuse thread? |
isochronism,
There is no real point here. Electron scouts trying to find their way through the cable. That is quite a sight. |
isochronism, glubson chooses looney tunes. geoff fixates on dirt. π I have never found Looney Tunes cartoons interesting. I like Tom and Jerry, Flintstones, and a few more like that. Realistic.
|
isochronism, "You could offer the secret of the world or a cartoon, and which would many choose?" This is a very contemplative morning challenge. Good news is that it does not truly matter. In a hundred years, that sand from geoffkait's beach will cover it all. Oh, error. Cover us all.
|
phd, "...the electrons eventually find their shortest path producing a better sound." Not being a cable expert, I read that as "Electrons are very slow learners. It takes them a month to find the shortest path through 50cm ofΒ virtually two-dimensional conductor".
I just took a mask off and am still wondering what problems you were talking about when you said that masks make people ill. You must have had something specific on your mind.
|
cal91, "@glupson It is generally accepted that it is OK to start a sentence with "and."" Thanks. I do try to avoid it, but, from time to time,Β I consciously use it as some kind of emphasis. Now you made me concerned that I do it too often. Ooooops. I am baffled by some of the grammar and spelling I read here. Written by native speakers, no less. geoffkait may be correct. Education may be lacking for some. I "learned" English in two classes a week. It was my fourth, or maybe fifth, language I could communicate in.
|
And I fully agree NASA is fake and that is the tip of the iceberg.
So, there is no geoffkait?Β t was all a hoax? |
thecarpathian,
Large one will set you back about $80, kitchen to door. Just make sure you are there to receive it so it does not stay outside for any period of time. |
thecarpathian,
I think I will have to pull my connections to secure steady supply and delivery from Vienna. First things first. |
phd,
Forget about 2013. I wore a mask today and will do so tomorrow. I am really interested what I am risking so I can try to figure out how to prevent it. 2013 was seven years ago, tomorrow is a few hours from now. |
"...more bluepilled with every post you make.
" Adderall? |
I get all these ideas about election fraud and so on, but do they have elections in Italy and Spain this fall? Anybody knows?
I have been looking into buying some Italian goods so am worried I may need to change. All audio related. |
phd, "Glupson, people are becoming ill from over-using masks because they are causing respitory conditions." I get that part. What I am interested in is what conditions and how? On a different, and way more relevant note here, I am curious which side of the cable burn-in debate you are on. Is it a conspiracy by manufacturers, or is it just a simple phenomenon? |
isochronism, "Professionals are publically speaking out that the vaccine is designed to make recipients MORE susceptible to contracting the virus!!" There are multiple vaccines being developed as we write this. Which ones are designed that way? Not all of them, I would guess. |
|
phd, Regarding masks, "Again people are becoming ill from them.
" How exactly? What is happening? I do agree to some extent. I am sick and tired of them. |
stereo5, "I find it discouraging that almost all the other major countries have this virus under control while cases are rising rapidly here." I assume that by "here" you mean U.S.A. Well, "under control" is a very stretchable term and, even if we consider Brazil a minor, Europe is on the edge with "control".
"Most of the governments in the other countries got ahead of the virus in the beginning, our government denied it even existed." Not one gevernement has actually gotten ahead. Some were quicker to respond, that is for sure, but everyone has been quite lost. |
"Someone should check the safety of these vaccines as they may be more harmful then the virus itself." Vaccine safety research part is often conducted even before vaccine efficacy research part. |
"Heβs probably just vengeful of the girls in high school that mocked him, wouldβnt accompany him to the Prom. π" I wonder what those girls are thinking about themselves now. "His PR people dress him in a Mr Rogers type sweater before the camera ..." It seems that they do that even when he is off camera. |
devilboy,
I am sure you know what you meant, but from the other side it seems like a bunch of disconnected words. |
This thread is still alive? Resilient to Coronavirus, I guess. |
geoffkait,
I do it myself, check if the world has come to an end in the meantime, and then read what wisdom I can gather here.
|
geoffkait,
Wrong again. All you have to do is wait for me to turn the computer on.
|
geoff, is it true that you have made over 3,000 posts about "direction"? You don't need an opinion, you need a hobby :-) Wrong. He needs a direction. |
|
You know what they call someone who graduates at the bottom of their class in Med School? Doctor... What do they call those at the top of their class? |
"I donβt believe the numbers." Neither do I. Statistics sucks. (and I suck at statistics so I may be a little biased) Why would anyone put a chip into people who are willingly spying on themselves anyway? Nobody here with Instagram, Facebook, e-mail, and whatever other audio forum you visit? On a more serious note, would that chip implanted via a drop of vaccine trigger an alarm at the airport security check? |
|
Is this a way out of Amarillo, every night I have been dreaming of my pillow.... |
|
|
"...why is the U.S. mortality rate 2 or 3 times LOWER than the European counties?" Is it really? Which European countries? |
amg56, ( @glupson How do you approach 5000 posts within 2 years and have have 0 threads started? Just curious... Β π By not taking these threads or myself seriously. Coming here during the breaks at work for some lighter fare and to feel what people out there think. If I had a question that was not already answered, I would start a thread. Sitting for two hours to read this? You are my hero and I mean it. Teflon man. It was not worth five minutes. |
isochronism, "Good teacher!" I am even better student. I learned that they are planning for reemergence of the virus. Unfortunately, I am still missing that crucial piece about when it will stop. It has been bothering me ever since you mentioned it. Where can I find them? Maybe they would tell me. |
dtapo,
Stay a while. You will learn nothing, but it is entertaining anyway.
|
isochronism,
Do not let them win. If you fall in the middle class, or middle age class, stay at home and live longer. That will annoy them.
They will know who they are. Even if I do not.
|
isochronism, "Glubson, they don't want it to go away." I do not really know who is "they" and how they are behind this, but if they announced when it will reemerge, I hope they will give us some hint about when it will go away before it reemerges. Do all you can not to become a person in front of this. It is a lottery and not every ticket wins. Damn they. |
"So glad I live in the Republic Of Texas...." Makes it practical for social distancing. What do they have there? Six miles, instead of six feet? |
terry9,
I am not being logical. Only curious. Making summer plans and all that stuff.
|
