Can NHT XDW subwoofer be used with other systems?

I have a pair of B&W XT4 speakers driven by a Rotel 1056 receiver. I bought a NHT XDW subwoofer.
Can the NHT XDW sub be used with other systems?? If yes or no please let me know. Any help will be appreciated. I do not have the sub yet, but would like any information.

Thanks Bob,
I emailed NHT customer support but they never replied back.I will call them.
A lot reviews kind of hint that its a closed system and may not work correctly with other systems. I will probably sell it and get a Martin logan or something.
