Calling all Nor Cal Dunlavy SC-IVa or SC-5 Owners

Hi All,

I'm very interested in demoing a pair of both the SC-IVa's and the SC-5's in a local A'goner's rig. I've listened to the SC-IVa's in a dealer rig, but would appreciate the chance to hear them in a more home-like listening room. I've not heard the SC-V's but understand they are just more of what you get with the SC-IVa's. If you're up for it, I could even bring over my amps, so we could both hear the speakers through some different amplification (See amps below).

I live in Newark, Ca and would be happy to reciprocate by having you over to my home to demo my 2 channel setup if you are interested.

My 2 channel rig includes:
-Pass Labs Aleph 2 Monoblocks or
-Atmasphere M60 MkII Monoblocks
-Gallo Acoustics Nucleus Reference Speakers (discontinued high end 2 channel speakers, not the new HT stuff they sell)
-Resolution Audio CD55 CD Player
-Monarchy Audio Class A Preamp
-DIY Interconnects and Speaker wires, stock power cords

System Strengths:
-Transparency and Speed (very much like electrostatics)
-Soundstage width and depth (way past the speakers and side and back walls of the room)
-3d Layering of images
-not fatiguing

System weakness:
-Bass (extension is ok, but not enough body/weight to the music)
-Imaging (while images can be placed fairly well, they can be a bit smeared at times, not rock solid)
-AC Noise (I need some AC line filtering)

From my system strengths/weaknesses, you can probably see why I'm interested in the Dunlavy's. The Dunlavy's seem to possess all the strengths and improve on the weaknesses in my system, but I want to be sure I'm hearing them correctly.

My musical tastes are all over the place, so I'm interested in listening to just about anything.

Let me know if you're up for it. You can email me at: ejohnson@everdream.com.

Thanks for looking,

Erik

I own a pair of SC IVa speakers. I have an ARC Ref 2 pre and either an ARC Classic 250 (pair) or an ML333 as my power amp(s).

I have Dunlavy SC-IVa's. They are driven by a Wadia 861xi CD player and a Classe CAP-151 integrated amplifier. I am planning to upgrade the amp soon and Pass is on the list. If you want to bring your amps and your favorite software over to Livermore (about twenty miles to the east) sounds like we could both benefit.
Thanks for the response. I'll be getting in touch with both of you in the next day or two.

Thanks Again,

Erik
