If you're trying to use the digital audio out on your cable box, that may be the problem -- some cable boxes seem to HAVE the digital out jack, but it isn't actually hooked up. My digital cable box (Scientific Atlanta) is that way. I asked the installer about it, and his comment was, "Well, the S-Video out works." That pretty much says it all . . . .
