Better Isoacoustics footers
I am a big fan of Townshend vibration control products. The Siesmic Podiums are transformative under my speakers. About the most improvement of any upgrade to my system. Many use and like Isoacoustic products. Namely, Gaias and Oreos.
They are clearly not at the level of the Townshend. They do not have any moving parts like the Townshend’s sealed springs.
But Isoacoustics has come out with 2 product lines that are close to on par at a fraction of the price. The Aperta line and the ISO-Pucks. The Aperta Isolation stands have 4 corner posts which have a “shock absorber” type part. Their isolation effect is not quite like the Townshend, but very well tuned and effective. And their ISO-Pucks also have active shock absorbers. Well beyond the Gias and Oreas.
I just bought 6 ISO-Pucks that are good for 20 lbs each for my 35 lb Quad 57s. They also come in a smaller puck good for 6 pounds each and the larger Iso-puck 76 that are good for 40 lbs each. I put them under the stock feet. They are very stable and have tightened up the bass and cleared up the mids and treble noticeably. The Quads don’t vibrate like a dynamic speaker, but for about $200 I got a nice imprisonment. Especially in the bass. The Townshend will not fit the Quads and would cost about 10 times the Iso.
The Aperta stands are impressive and are even closer to the Townshend. But limited to 75 lbs. The pucks can hold up to 160 lbs for 4.
Isoacoustics has definitely become a great option to the Townshend.
