Bestt MP3 player 16 GB and up under $300

Looking for the best sounding MP3 player under $300. So far I'm looking at Colorfly (major $), Hifiman (leaning towards), and Cowon (least $ but looks like difficult in navigating and cheap parts used). Kind of frustrated. Presently using a Sony Walkman but there must be something else out there (I hope).
