Best under $300 DVD player for music & video

My 5 yr. old Phillips just bit the dust. Not sure if its worth fixing or just buy a new one as prices have come down in recent years? what are the best for under $300? Have not studied them in years. Paired with some nice Magnepan 3.5s so detail will be important.
