Best SUT for Lyra Delos / 90k ohm-RME Adi2 Pro SE MM phono input
Hi everyone,
I am in the process of modifying the analog path for my Lyra Delos (--> SME IV --> OEM Van den Hul silver hybrid lead --> SUT? --> 1/2 foot DIY RCA-to-XLR cable --> RME Adi2 Pro SE with inner MM phono amp). Till now I have used a Lehmann Black Cube se II.
The phono amp inside the RME is better than the one inside the Lehmann, so now I need a SUT. Cables are sorted already.
I load the Lyra at 470 ohms, so it would seem natural for me to get a 1:10 SUT, but two problems:
- the XLR inputs of the RME are loaded at 90 kohms, not 47k. Is it a good thing (possibility to minimize transofrmer ringing), or should I load it up to 47 kohms? I have read somewhere that loading the secondary (is it the secondary?) is a bad idea. In case I keep the 90 kohms as is, that means I have a to get a 1:14 SUT (too loud), or load the primary. Which would be the best option?
- I am torn between acquiring a 1:10 Lundahl LL9226XL DIY sut, or a 1:8 LL1931 one. What justifies the difference in pricing? I am not exactly near any SUT dealer so can't go hear for myself. And buying a 1:8 would mean loading the primary as well.
Thanks for your help!
