I would like to nominate the album: Keep It Hid - Dan Auerbach. From 2008 I reaaly liked Only by the Night - Kings of Leon

The Strange Boys - Be Brave, reminds a bit about Keep It Hid. Wont be the best in 2010(I hope) but its quite good.
Good Recomendations
Will check out M Ward. J Sykes and Susanna

A late 2008 is Cold Fact by Rodriguez
Got the Bonnie Prince Billy yesterday, I can also recommend Adiam Dymott

Dgarretson, I second that album, Them Crooked Vultures is something Special!

I didnt think anything would surpass Keep it Hid but this might be the one. Ive heard the album three times but cant yet cast my final vote.
I agree the AIC album is up there, its very good.
I would like to recommend Mad Season - Above from 1995.
Its Layne Stayley before he joined AIC. For me it was like getting a new record with Layne although very old:-)
Synthfreek,

you are so right, I should "Wake Up" and have thought about AIC releasing there first album in 1989 (I think).
But its the only solo album Layne Staley released or stuff outside AIC he did that I know of. Id be happy to learn if hes done something else.
Ill end this thread with stating My best of 2009 rock albums and it ends as i guessed but with two fantastic and unexpected runners up:

Best Rock 2009:
1. Keep it Hid - Dan Auerbach
2. Them Crooked Vultures - Them Crooked Vultures
3. Black Gives Way to Blue - Alice In Chains

Look forward to the 2010 albums!
