Best Monoblocks for Totem / Arcam system

My friend just bought Emotiva monoblocks. I have an arcam avr 400 running off my laptop / moon dac. I use Totem Sttaf fronts, Thunder sub, mite center and surrounds. It feels to me as if the system is hungry for more. He got the Emotivas for $600 (2 units). Is this a wise route for me to follow given my set up. Or are there other inexpensive options to add some diesel to my system? Thanks all. -Scott
