Check out the Dreamvision 500. Its a DLP projector and can be had for around $4500-$6500 depending where you shop. Generally known as THE current best value in projectors under $10000 today. Pair it with the DVDO iScan V2 line doubler ($600-$750) for a VERY competitive package. Check the mags and on-line reviews of these products you'll see what I mean! Not the best out there but in this price range you would be very hard-pressed to find suitable competition. Happy hunting!
I bought a Seleco SDG 700L6 July of 99 and I have been extremely pleased. When I gradudated from college my first job was as an engineer for Barco projection systems. I have a good deal of knowledge in the area of projectors and I have been most impressed by Seleco; I have a CRT 3 gun version. If I were going to install a single lens unit is would definately NOT be LCD due to dot crawl and the general poorer rendition they offer to "black" levels. The new dlp projectors are worth looking into if size/cost are most importatnt to you. Regards, Mike PS>I have found that a projector in the home is worlds better than even the biggest of best rear projection TV.
Don't forget to add in the cost of a hd receiver, and the instillation to whatever you decide.
THE place to visit for Front Projector info is WWW.AVSFORUM.COM If you can live with an outboard scaler, and can hide the noisy projector, the JVD G11 D-ILA is still the best picture and does 1080i & 720P. For $11,00 you can get a G15. If you are on a $5K budget , then the Proxima DX3 or Infocus LP350 are great units - Andy
