I much prefer the Cardas AES/EBU digital cable to the Madrigal AES/EBU between Levinson transport and DAC. The Cardas is more "musical". The Madrigal is much more analytical. Cheers. Craig
they are to many best digital cables depends on system xlo L.E,SYNERGİSTİCS DES.REF.SQUARED,KHARMA ENİGMA AND GRAND REF.,NBS MONİTOR O AND 1,PURİST AUDİO DOMİNUS ,SİLTECH G5.......ALL ARE STATE-OF-ART PRODUCTS ACTUALLY, İ'M USİNG KHARMA ENİGMA AND SYNERGİSTCS DES.REF.SQUARED BUT İ ALREADY USED ALL İ MENTİONED ABOVE
Though I have tried much more expensive cables I am currently using the harmonic tech magic One on the main system and the AZ MC2 on the "B" set up. Great cords that have beat some $1,000 digital cables IMS anyway.
I tried DH Labs D-75 (silver coated copper), Illuminations D-60 (silver), and Cardas Lightening (copper). The Lightenings had great mids so that's what I use. The D-75s were ok for the price and the D-60s (like all silver cables to my ears) were bright. What I find amazing is that there is so much difference among digital cables. Haven't heard the more expensive ones.
Have any of you heard the Silver Sonic by DH Labs (Florida), or the Supra Trico from Sweden? I bought both of these 75 Ohm Digital cables at CES in Jan. I have not tested them as and am waiting for my room construction to be complete so I can run my system again.
I've owned Harmonic Technology Platinum, DH Labs Silver Sonic and Nordost Silver Shadow. I'm a cable convert when it comes to analog cables, but I found negligible difference between the digital cables I tried - my recommendation would be to get just a reasonably priced digital cable (maybe DH Labs - only $69 or so) and divert funds to other areas of your system - just my 2cents
I use and like the Marigo (in RCA 75 ohm format). Stiff and hard to work with, however.
There seem to be more differences between digital cables than one would expect. I don't dispute danner's claim, but even though silver can be bright in analog cables, I just can't imagine why it would also be bright in a digital cable.
Illuminations Orchid or Analysis Plus Digital Oval are both phenomenal. Make sure you get them long enough so that all turns can be very gentle, but no longer than needed.
The best digital cable that I tried between Classe DAC1 and CDT1 was the Illuminations Orchid. I tried many before coming to that conclusion. Huge presentation of detail without being analytical. An amazing soundstage. Often available on Audiogon at rather reasonable prices. Good Luck.
