I know that it is hard to believe Houston (4th largest U.S. City) does not support more music and stereo/hifi shops.
One would have to drive to Dallas, Austin or San Antonio for these stereo/hifi shops...

Your choices are limited in Houston a/k/a "Audio Wasteland." One decent place, however, is Cactus Records at 2110 Portsmouth (vicinity of Hwy 59 and Shepherd). They've got a sizable collection of used jazz cd's.
