Best CD Player, new or used between $1-2K

Hi gentlemen, I would like to know what is the best CD player new or used between 1-2k. I would love to get my hands on an Norwegian beauty like the Electrocompaniet, but they tend to be rather pricey now. Does anyone have any opinions where to get a Electrocompaniet at a good price or good recommendations? PAUL

I am selling my Parasound cdp2000 with the 2000 DAC. This was a Stereophile B rated component 1 1/2 yrs. ago..I still love the sound of it. The bell drive transport was built by CEC of Japan. They are considered the best transports out there. Email me if you are interested.
A Musical Design modified Pioneer 414, 525, or 333 DVD is very good. I would compare it with all others mentioned. They start at $995. Good luck.
Look at the Adcom GCD750 or the Rotel RCD991, both can be had for around $1200.00
Regarding your search for Electrocompanient CDs, Try HOLMES AUDIO in Woodridge Il, ask for Albert, sells HiEnd Audio to include Electrocompanient, Stands behind sell.
The Resolution Audio CD50 is the best anywhere near the specified price range, the CD55 is even better but is over $2000.
Check out the Arcam Alpa 9. The new FMJ is supposed to be even better and still in your price range. I haven't compared it with any of the players already listed so I can't say it is better. Both players have received rave reviews if that means anything.
I second the ARC CD2 recommendation. I have a CD 1 and it was a great buy and the CD 2 is even better.
DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND TRY TO GET OR AT LEAST LISTEN IF YOU CAN TO AN USED RESOLUTION AUDIO CD-50,USED FOR AROUND $1,750 I HONESTLY TELL YOU THAT IT'S AN INCREDIBLE PLAYER,THE BEST MONEY CAN BUY FOR TRIPLE THE PRICE OR YOU CAN TRY THE RESOLUTION AUDIO NEW FOR AROUND $2,500(NEVER HEARD THIS ONE BUT I CAN ONLY IMAGINE),I'VE LISTENED TO A FEW HIGH END PLAYERS IN THE PAST AND THE RESAUDIO CD-50 HAS NO EQUAL,GOOD LUCK,REGARDS,AL
Your in a good situation....1 to 2k is a good amount..and all of the above suggestions have merit.. I would add. the Audio Research CD2, and the vastly underated Classe CDP-1...or the two seperates from Classe. Also the Bel Canto DAC-1 with a CD transport or player to drive it using the nordost Silver Shadow Coax cable is a good system..
The Sony XA7ES is a wonderful player. MSRP is $3,000, but if you look around you can get them new for around $1,500.
Be sure to check out the new Cary 303 CD player on the used market. I've seen them on the used market for about 1600 to 1800. It is an extremely good player in this price range! Goodluck.
I have a Naim CD2 in mint condition for sale at $1,750.00 New - $4,200.00 The CD2 was replaced by the CDX but is the sonic twin (only diff is ability to ADD and additional power supply to the CDX - $4k upgrade)If your really want a good player - consider this one. The Naim is world class and rated class A at Stereophile.
