Best Amp for Acoustat Speakers

What is the best Amp for running Acoustat 1+1 speakers?
kenth
I have had my Acoustat 2+2 speakers for over 14 years. I mix and match between an ARC SP-8,ARC D-115, Spectral DMC-10 and Spectral DMA-200. The different combos give different sounds. All Full range Acoustats are beautiful sounding!!!!
I had a pair of Monitor 3's for a few years. I really loved the sound but had to sell them due to a move - space requirements! I used several amps - McIntosh MC 2125, MC2002, Mc-275, Quicksilver 8417's, Carver 1.0t, Altec 1569's (modified). I thought they sounded best with the tube amps, but they really need alot of power. I would feel comfortable with 100w. It was amazing how good they sounded with the Altecs. Many of my friends were surprised that a PA amp could make good music.
Hi, I OWN ACOUSTAT 2+2 FOR THREE YEARS NOW.TRIED MANY AMPS-EAR 509 MONOBLOCK TUBES:TOO BRIGHT,MCORMACK 100W SPECIAL EDITION AND HAFLER D220 100WATT:SOUNDED IDENTICAL(FLAT AND DEAD). DENON 6600 250WATTS MONOBLOCKS,LITTLE MORE PUNCH THAN PREVIOUS 2 AMPS BUT STILL DEAD.RESTECK CHALLENGER(GERMAN INTEGRATED 130WATTS -WONDERFUL SOUND BUT THEY SWITCHED OFF FREQUENTLY BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT STAND THE LOAD.ROTEL 100W INTEGRATED,CLIPPED AND NO SPECIAL SOUND.FINALLY GOT 2 CUSTOM BUILT 60WATT TRIODE SINGLE ENDED MONOBLOCKS.SOUND IS SPECTACULAR. THEY WERE MATCHED ON THE FEEDBACK RESISTOR(20 db FEEDBACK) TO THE LOUDSPEAKERS.I AM PLAYING AT AN AVERAGE OF 95 DB AND HAVE REACH AUDIO NIRVANA(FOR THE TIME BEING). I STRONGLY RECCOMEND TUBE AMPLIFICATION.IT IS IMPERATIVE TO LISTEN IN YOUR HOME BEFORE YOU BUY.YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED.
I've had my Model IIIs for about 7 years & have tried a few different amps on them. I've used Carver 1.0t,Threshold 200wpc,Crown monos,& a Sunfire Signature with varying results. Last week i picked up a pair of modified Altec 1570Bs......SUPERB:-)Best sounding amplifiers I've heard on my stats. They can be found for a reasonable price. If you can find a set I would recomend you take a listen. Good luck in your search!
I have 1+1 speakers. Right now I am using the VTL MB-175 monos. The 807 output tubes are what make these amps special. I have also tried the PASS Aleph amps (very nice). I have also used a NYAL Moscode 300 (also nice). Tubes are the way to go. Power is a must (100watts min). Current is very important. If these magical speakers do not pull you into the music and make you lose track of time, you are using the wrong amp.
Believe it or not I managed great sound with Acoustat 3's (my first foray into high end)and an Adcom 555 which was modified by GASWORKS. I stupidly sold them years ago for dynamic speakers. My wife recently purchased a pair of 2's at a garage sale-100 bucks bought a PS Audio preamp, two monoblock amps, the speakers, an Adcom tuner, a Magnavox CD player, and an Ariston turntable! I'm now driving the speakers with either a pair of Rowland Model Ones in bridged mode or a LLano A200. Both produce great, but different, sound. Both are available used at reasonable prices.
I have Acoustat Model 2 ,being powered by Threshold Amp and Pre Amp. No problems and the sound is fantastic. Have tried other amps, but always come back to Threshold. Nelson Pass really does it right.
Forgot to menetion. The Kenwood LO7-M mono blocks work well with the 1+1. First time I heard the Acoustat 1+1 they were powered by the kenwoods. Most impressive. Can usually be had on Audiogon or eBay for about $300.00 the pair.
