From my limited experience with pre amps, for the money (and it has balanced connections) I think it is a great value in the SS category. I put it in my system between a Cambridge Audio 840C, Spectron Musician 3SE MKII amp and Von Schweikert 4Sr speakers. In general, compared to previous configurations with a CJ 17LS, CJ 16LS and a Modwright 9.0SE, the background is as quiet, the bass digs a little deeper and the sound stage widens...and I can leave it on all the time so my wife is not worried about "flipping the wrong switch and blowing something up."
