Bel Canto Dac2 light always green... is it okay?

Hi All,

I recently put a Monarchy DIP 48/96 Upsampler between by CD player and Bel Canto Dac2 and notice the Upsampler seems to cause the Bel Canto Dac2 to always be locked onto a signal and thus the light is always green in color (and never reverts back to red when there is no audio). Is this going to cause pre-mature failure if left on like this? I'd hate to think I'm killing the life out of this awesome product!

No, L.E.D's last for a very very very long time typically over 100K hours. It is locked because the DIP is doing it's job by providing a stable clock which will replace the clock from your' drive unit. You are all good, not to worry. And even if your' L.E.D did go, it's $2 part if that.

Thanks Don! I guess I mean't more along the lines of the internal components to the DAC and if they're at risk; and if they were constantly "at work" trying to process rather than being in stand-by (red LED). Nonetheless by your description it sounds like everything okay, and the stable clock explanation does make sense.

You're welcome. I leave most of gear on 24/7 except my Graaf Modena...tooo hot and too energy inefficient. My dacs and SS amps stay on all constantly.
