Bass management
Ever since I added my Rogue preamp, with the lack of room correction, I have struggled with bass management. I tried every possible adjustment on my Rythmik sub, but could not get the bass correct.
On another thread, I asked for help & several recommended miniDSP. I was hesitant to add an inexpensive device which required AD then DA conversions. I finally gave up & purchased a miniDSP 2x4HD without room correction through Amazon, thinking I could easily return it.
Attached it to my sub out from my preamp. Continued to run full range, bypassing the miniDSP from my Rogue to my KEF R11’s (ports plugged). Then checked the speaker/sub frequency response curve using my AVR with my Rogue in home theater pass thru mode, making adjustments to the parametric EQ on the miniDSP to the sub. After several PEQ iterations, and low pass at 60hz, I was able to achieve a virtually flat response curve… amazing! And avoided the ADA conversions for a majority of the frequencies.
A side & unexpected benefit, when playing vinyl, was I was suffering from my sub pulsing at higher volumes, without the rumble filter on & low cut at 20Hz. I was able to both turn my rumble off and set the low cut to 17Hz! I now have deep, clean, crisp lows, with no sub pulsing. My system has never sounded better! Highly recommended!
