B&W 805s and their stands

When the B&W 805s are attached with screws to their matching stands, do the four little pointy things on the tops of the stands remain in place? I've got a pair of Signature 805s that I've had for a few years, but I have never screwed them to the stands. For some reason, I'm wanting to do so now, but I'm not sure if I'm supposed to remove those four things from the top plate of the stands before I do.
