Avalon Eidolon Diamond with
Hello Everyone,
I am seriously considering purchasing a pair of Avaolon Eidolon Diamonds and would like, at least for a while, to run them with my ARC VTM 200's. Right now, I've got the Martin Logan Prodigy's (91db/2.83V) and am satisfied with the sound pressure levels I am getting.
I am concerned about the 87 db sensitivity given for the Avalons, although it is somewhat imcomplete, they are 4 ohm speakers, and it is not clear if that is 87 db at 1 watt or at 2.83 V. (2 watts at 4 ohms)
Has anyone had experience running these speakers with 200 watt tube amps? I know that the VTM 200's are not the be all end all in term of finesse, and I will probably change them next year, but I would like to know that I will be able to move at my leisure and can really set up and listen to the Eidolons before introducing another component change.
The new room (under construction) is 21 x 18 x 9, but the effective size is really 21 x 14.5 x 8, due to the way Rives has designed the walls. I listen mostly to Jazz and acoustic music, but occasionally crank out a Mahler CD or some hard rock.
As always, thanks in advance for your thoughts,
Cheers,
Ron
