Automatic Tonearm Lifter Help

My wife forced me to get rid of my old semi-automatic TT (an older Techniques - I'm still pissed at her over this one🤬). I recently replaced it with an  AT-LP1240-USBXP manual TT. I'm spoiled with the automatic tonearm return and would like to find some aftermarket product that will perform this function. However, there is absolutely NO space between the platter and the tonearm base. All of the products I've seen require at least 14 mm, which I don't have. Is there ANY lifter out there that might work?

Nothing I know of will fit. I fit the nice Audio Technica Lifter between my 12-1/2" long arm with a small base. No room for it or any other lifter between my 9" arm, and some medium length arms have large bases or plates that may interfere.

I tried two less costly lifters, crap, returned them, this one very nice

I would return/sell the one you bought, get a model with auto lift or auto return. Do you do DJ work, or DJ 'things', otherwise, why spend more money on these versions?

good luck

direct drive preferred?

If you consider vintage direct drive, you need to do your research

looks: some fake wood, some real wood veneer, some metal, lot plastic, very few solid wood, some custom,

i.e. fully automatic, semi-auto-matic; optional full manual, manual

I saw a rare Denon with a marble deck (manual).

I just decided to get another turntable for my rock and roll office. I am happy I hopped about learning about so many models for this thread and the prior TT under $1,500. thread.

That Pioneer PL-530 auto/manual model sticks in my mind, I wish it was a better deck, real wood rather than vinyl. I suppose I could have my local shop steam off the vinyl and add real veneer.

I will probably stick to either a Denon or JVC with the composite 7 layer 70mm thick plinth with wood veneer like the CL-P2 dual arm plinth I have downstairs. Smaller CL-P1 perhaps, I don’t need 2 arms in my office. Or the Denon version of that plinth, I will need to learn more about Denon's.

No rush, but I’ve got the itch, and, if a short arm, I like the idea of optional auto lift. Perhaps full automatic, I’ve got all manual with after-market auto lift downstairs.

Anyway, let us know what you end up doing.
