Isn't this arm filled with something? I believe it is not hollow. Not really sure though.
I am running a PT6 on my VPI hw19.
Would it be adviseable to replace this arm? Is it a dead beat?
How much improvement would I hear by spending $500.00 on a new or used arm in place of the PT6?
Thanks, Scott
Damn, I thought I responded to this yesterday - I guess it got lost.

Anyway, I can't say I've ever seen any instructions on how to rewire the Audioquest arms. If I had I might have done it myself! However, I have seen others wrap good tonearm wire around the outside of the armtube and go that route.

Now the armtube probably helps shield these tiny wires carrying small cartridge signals, so I don't know if it's necessarily the best solution. But you could give it a try and see if it works for you. The Cardas litz wire isn't all that expensive, so not a lot to lose giving it a try.

If it doesn't work out I would guess you could try to go it alone, but no telling what you may run into. I'm sure there are some who would say it's just not worth it at all with this tonearm. If getting one of the "upgrade" places to do it for you costs more than $200 then I think they may be right - better to upgrade to a better arm altogether.

Enjoy,
Bob
