Audiophile streaming service

I’ve heard much fewer complaints about Qobuz than Tidal.

Johnny Darko used Roon with the $5k Mytek Brooklyn Bridge where he compared it to the Redbook CD transport, both used the same dac in the comparison.

Look at what milpai in the 7th post, and I both have found with these first issue no compressed albums.
And it’s why I believe there is an opening just for the earlier first masters that weren’t compressed like the re-issues are mostly today, for a small streaming company to get going, sure charge a little more but audiophiles don’t mind paying a little extra for better uncompressed quality.

And I also see quite a few posts not happy with some streaming services they have.

George what streaming services have you listened to?

Not sure but a few, I don’t ask when the streamer is on, we just A/B streamer v his CD transport, loaded with early lowest uncompressed albums

We do the A/B’s at Edgars place, with Total Dac Wilson Alexia’s and Gryphon Antillion,
He the editor/owner of Soundstage Australia and any reviews he does, he lists his sources and equipment. So you can find out when it’s Roon, or whatever, he try’s them all.

But he’s diplomatic as all reviewers and Audio magazine owners are. As the equipment manufacturers they pay for advertising and his wage. But I didn’t need to tell you that, as you’d be very gullible if you didn’t.

The only one I know that’s bucked the system has been Johnny Darko with this video, and he doesn’t talk about the compression later re-release digital albums have over early ones of the same thing

Do you think they are going to scour eBay for old used ones with catalogue numbers details just to get the uncompressed one then buy it used hoping it’s in good nick?

No I don’t think so, they get what’s give streamed to them from the recording companies at the time, which will be the newer re-issue compressed version that they have done.

By all means rip them from a good known early uncompressed CD to a hard drive.

But to stream them from a streaming company you are sure to get the later compressed version, of what you bought from Germany.

And your right you can bump up the level so much more without it getting confused, because the DR is so much better your ears/brain hears the quieter parts better, it not a wall of fatiguing loud compressed sound.

Yes I agree, there are many compressed CD’s especially the later ones as the DR data base shows. And from how they sound these versions are the ones streaming companies use, as we’ve done A/B’s with many albums, on hiend gear.
But then there are the non compressed earlier versions, these are the ones to listen to and purchase used, and for a streaming service to stream.

That is why I started this thread, not as you make out, but for someone to start an audiophile streaming service, how ever small just to cater for music lovers that care their getting "non squashed" music when paying for it to stream.

Well if you guys take the trouble to find out the versions of what your listening to, especially earlier music, you’ll find it’s later re-releases, that are much more compressed than the earlier first release versions.
And most new stuff is compressed.

Like this but even worse, as there can be >10 different version releases.
