Audio Note OTO SE Tape Loop

I have a question about my amp regarding the tape loop. When I'm using one of the Source inputs, I am able to toggle to the tape loop and there is still sound. Not cross-over or just a faint sound from one of the other sources. This is as loud as the Source input. There is a change in the sound, but it is at full volume. This is different from other amplifiers I've owned in the past. I have a MF Tri-Vista 300 and the sound goes dead when pressing the tape monitor button. If this is normal, I'd like to get some input. I don't have the owners manual and haven't been able to locate one on the Audio Note www site. Any assistance is appreciated. Thanks!!!
