who loves my speakers! Then I woke up :-( |
Score!!! I got some last night from a babe who loves my speakers! Then I woke up:-( |
Ok now if I can only afford a car and move out of my mother's apartment, I think the babes are going to flock to me. But really, I think women look at my speakers the way they look at an appliance or furniture...they better match the rest of the decor or they're outa there. Yea I would have to agree women actually listen to the music and not the equipment. May be size doesn't matter...it's the motion of the ocean. |
Thsalmon and others, this thread was initiated as light entertainment. If you really believe I used my stereo to attract women, you are just too gullible. Why don't you lighten up? |
My girlfriend is just too hot to care about my speakers. She's happy with her iPod. May be I'll bring her to next year's RMAF, but then again I'm not sure if I want her to be into my hobby. |
Kijanki,I got new speakers. BTW, the story I told is true. |
Vernon, I think I agree with you about gold diggers, but I've met my share and none of them actually had any idea how much my system cost. They usually judge how much I'm worth by my car. I once had a women approach me at a club and say, "you're cute...what kind of car do you drive?" To which I replied looking at her chest, "are those real?" Well she didn't seem too happy and ran off in a huff. Guess I have a way with gold diggers. My current girl friend has no interest in my hifi, and I'm glad because I don't want her taking my sweet spot ;-) |
Hugh Hefner is skeleton with skin, and he is the biggest gold digger magnet I know. |
Sit, by "equipment" what are you referring to? |
I think I'm going to break up with my girl and marry my speakers. My speakers makes less noise. |
Over a hundred responses to my light hearted post! I didn't think it would get this far. Apparently it has hit a nerve for many. Unfortunately, I have met more gold diggers than not. I'm very low keyed about my work, income (only the IRS and my employer know), lifestyle, etc. I don't wear fancy cloths most of the time (I like Walmart cloths), drive a Subaru to work, and don't volunteer what I do for a living unless it is necessary. But I do have a nice weekend car. When I'm out on the town on weekends in my nice car, I have had women literally drive up to me trying to strike up a conversation. Obviously, I don't take these women seriously. Sometimes, I tell them I'm a valet, and they clear out faster than Audiophiles in Bose demo room. I would like to mount my nice speakers on roof of my nice car and drive around town. It would be a bitch to lift a 240 lb speaker onto my car, but I'm hunting for the love of my life. I will marry the first woman who takes an interest of my speakers over my car! But she must weigh at least 100 lbs less than my speaker. I have a bad back and wouldn't be able to lift her up on my honey moon, if she weighed any more. |
Macrojack, I'm just making light of the situation ;-) I'm not interested in attracting any woman with my material possessions. I have a groovy girl friend who makes me happy. I am somewhat surprised by how many audiophiles have had issues with women who are only interested in their money. Somewhat comforting, but sad that so many women are this way.
"If you want to attract women, ultimately YOU are going to have to keep their attention, not your possessions."
I would think it's a two-way street. Both parties have to keep each others attention. If I followed your advice, I would lose interest pretty quick, unless she does the same. |
Koegz, instead of groovy, how about "far out" or "bitchin"? or may be "swell"? The car that I drive on weekends is something I dreamed about since I was 13. Has nothing to do with impressing the women. I have not been in the market so speak for past 10 years. I still love the same girlfriend.
True it goes both ways, but I get a lot more attention from women since I got my car. But don't get ruffled. There are still many truly "swell" women out there. |
Ah Cajunpepe, I hope you're not suffering from Alzheimer's repeating yourself like that :-) |
Musicpod, that's why I am not married and have a girlfriend instead. I can buy "that junk" ad infinitum :-) |
I'm shure most of us nose the diffence between "then" and "than", butt we maid typos wen we think two fast for use to no the misteak. |
If her name was Linn Klimax, I would put her up for auction on Audiogon and recoup some of the cost for maintaining her ;) |
Kijanki, do you work for the National Inquirer? Lol... |
Quadophile, if your comment is meant for me, read my posts on this more carefully. This was a light hearted post. If you actually took my OP seriously, it is you who may have a problem. If your post was in jest, it's all good. |
"...that all changes once you make the commitment..." Isn't that the case with anything when you commit to a woman? Sigh... |
None of my audio gear has been reviewed in TAS or Stereophile, as far as I know but I haven't read either rag in a long time. But I did find couple of married women recently who were very pleased with the aesthetics of my speakers and audio room.
I wonder if female audiophiles are turned on by the looks of their equipment (I mean their audio gear). I know have seen one advertiser use a half naked woman with their thick speaker wire coiled around the her. The woman turned me on cuz she was half naked, but not the speaker wire.
I did see ads by some audio company (Vincent Audio I think) with a male and female dancers. The male, who had long hair and scruffy mustache or gotee, had just some white pants and was in some effeminate dance stance. Dunno, but this ad really turned me off, eventhough the female dancer was very attractive. Since 90%+ audiophiles are male (most are probably heterosexual), I think including a male, especially the one I saw, is a mistake. |
Desalvo55, does you wife have a sister? Hopefully, single. |
Rgs92, sadly it's true. I loves the women...what's the saying? You can't live with them, and you can't shoot them.
Disclaimer: The above statements are for entertainment purposes only. No woman was ever shot during the making of thread. |
Seriously, sometimes I get more excited about my speakers than women. Is that wrong? |
Renmeister, are you saying your Avantgarde Uno's made those women "horny"? |
|
"Would you believe some high performance speakers are being featured in Elle magazine?"
Are these actual ads for the speaker or reviews? |
"For all I know, we'd be divorced by now, and she'd have my house and stereo." Classic. Based on current statistics, you would have had greater than 50% chance of this happening if you married her. Enjoy your stereo system. |
If I were gay, I would have never started this thread. |
Finally!!!! I found a female who's finds my system sexy. But she's only 21 years old, and I'm older than her father. Life is cruel, and god is a prankster. I'm selling everything and buying a Porsche. |
