Sorry for going sideways, but @ghasley gotta mention that the Bosch books by Michael Connelly are some of the best fiction in the genre IMHO. Plenty of jazz recommendations buried in there too! In a similar vein, you might get a kick out of the inclusion of high end systems in recent television.
