I have a DV79/AVP700/P1000 combo and am using them with Reimer Teton GS's. The analog direct mode seems to have a bit quieter background, kind of like blacker blacks on a tv. Detail is also improved as a result. I have to think it's very, very close to AV8. Close enough that they now have an AV9.
