arc cd 7 vs wavelength crimson

I realize I'm comparing two different approachs to the same goal but my question is can the wavelength crimson properly installed equal the performance of the arc cd 7? I'm referring to sonic quality and not issues of accessibility and installation ease.

Personally I'm waiting for ARC to release a DAC (USB preferably) with the CD7 circuitry.

I came very close to buying a CD7 but didn't want to be locked out of server convenience. Another option would be for ARC to make provisions for digital inputs to the CD7.
