Thanks for the information. In my searches on the infowebs I found a reference to a 50/50 mix of distilled water and vinegar, and straight vinegar. Glad you cleared it up.
Aqueous Record Cleaning Questions
I've printed a copy of Neil Antin's Precision Aqueous Cleaning Of Vinyl Records, Third Edition, Change 1, March 2024, and am gathering all of the necessary equipment to give it a try. Considering the cost of Citranox, I decided to use the vinegar solution. Page 22 describes the procedure, but I have a few questions. Section III Step 4.3 states "If using Distilled white vinegar (5% acidity) add to spray (or wash) bottle and fill 1/2 to 3/4 full." Fill with vinegar or distilled water? The section goes on to describe adding 0.5 ml of concentrated NID (non-ionic detergent). I looked through the book but couldn't find out what the NID is supposed to be. Is it the Dow Tergitol or something else? Thanks for your help and I look forward to de-sliming some records soon.
