Aqua DAC

Considering a used Aqua La Scala ii DAC ( not the current Optologic version which is more than I want to spend). I believe it can be upgraded to that version later.  Would appreciate hearing from anyone with experience using that DAC.  Also, is it better than comparably priced new DACs?
