Having owned many pairs of Apogees... it is always advantageous to supply at least 100/wpc to any Apogee as the ribbon/cone hybrid can tend to place a difficult load on a lower powered amp. The mini is the mild exception but to get the sound you are paying for, the ribbons like to be fed more power. I have monoblocks that produce 800 & 1500/wpc driving my Apogee Studio Grands.
