Anyone with Songbird experience w/FLAC on Mac?

Anyone have experience using Songbird with their Mac to download HD audio files? I think there's a few of us out here waiting for a FLAC to Mac procedure that's elegant (read easy).
I recently stopped purchasing and downloading the higher definition files from iTunes Store, and went back to ripping discs instead.
The convenience of truly HD on-line downloadable music files *would* be nice....is Songbird the answer?
