Anyone using a Pro-ject Pre Box RS?

Would be interested in hearing from owners.  It has some attractive features (e.g., balanced and dual mono design; multiple XLR inputs) not to mention an affordable price.  Like the fact it isn't loaded up with things I don't need.  Am a bit concerned about a comment in the HiFi Choice review indicating the ALPS volume control is a kind of "twitchy"...the reviewer reported a limited control range going from no sound to very loud.  Wondering what others might have experienced in this regard.  Thanks in advance.
