Anyone use an Linear Tube Audio Preamp with an older SS Mcintosh power amp?

Hi - 

Was wondering if anyone has ever paired a Linear Tube Audio Preamp with an older Mcintosh Solid State Power Amp? Not being terribly familiar with all the Mcintosh models, I'm thinking mostly about the older classic models versus the newer, more neutral sounding, models 

I suspect few have, but wanted to see if anyone has actually ever paired the two. And, if so, would welcome hearing about the results.
