Anyone heard the Meridian 559 amp

This is the new Meridian amp that replaced the 557 amp. I saw it got a rave review in the Absolute sound.

I reworked a Meridian Old school power amp for a customer. One or perhaps the most powerful retro PA I have ever seen.
It had a monster toroidal, caps the size of 500ml beer cans and a few 100 amps worth of transistors per channel.Ran tests on a 15" poly 4 layer voice coil car sub with 1 inch solid rubber suspension...the most powerful speaker I have for testing such.
The power was exactly what what the big boys need...down to 2 ohm stable.
The output transistors are only available in TO220 on the net today...you wont need any unless you put a bus bar over the output.10 x 50amp per side..40 in total and i think they used the same as the predrivers for each channel.5amp continuous on the emitter per trani. An amp like this will make a tv grid antenna sing..we did a test on a similar unit in the early 80's.Cut a few links in the grid to increase the impedance...the whole company came to a stand still when we hooked up a few speakers.Stationery was resonating on desks 2 floors up.The fun days!
