Anyone heard the Def Tech Supercube subwoofers?

I would like to hear about your experience with the Definitive Technology Supercube I or Reference subwoofers. In particular, how well did they integrate and perform with music? Most sub's do well for HT, but not necessarily with music, as I found out.

Thanks for your help!

you should re-position it. if it is setting off yer nieghbors house alarm, then it is definatly doing its job right, but the location of the sub is probably causing the cancellation of the output by reflections coming back in 180 out of phase.

Definatly try re-locating the subwoofer. Play around with it.

You can always put it on the spot you normally listen and crawl around on the floor and find out where the bass is at its highest. Then place the subwoofer there and see if there is a difference.

What the hell are you playing on it anyways? Outkast's boom boom boom?
heh

that is a song to test a subwoofer.
It will still rock my room quite a bit, but not as much as I've heard it should. My wife says she can hear it outside in the back yard and my sub is in the front of the house. I too can hear it, but not like a huge rumble like the reviews I read. One said it set of his neighbors house alarm. I'm not sure my neighbors know I have it yet. How do I measure its levels? Can anyone come listen to it? I live in Post Falls, ID.

ive had the reference, i now own dual velodyne hgs15x's, and the reference was a good sub. it went low, was powerful, but not the most musical, as compared to the velodynes.
I OWN THE REFERENCE AND I'M NOT QUITE SURE WHAT EVERYONE IS TALKING ABOUT. WHEN I PLAY MUSIC AT LOUD LEVELS, BUT NOT TOO LOUD, IT WILL SHUT OFF WHEN IT GETS OVERLOADED WITH BASS. MAYBE SOMEONE WOULD LIKE TO COME LISTEN TO IT AT MY HOUSE AND GIVE ME SOME POINTERS ON IT. I LIVE IN POST FALLS, ID. IT STILL SOUNDS GREAT, BUT I WANT THE SAME TESTIMONY EVERYONE ELSE HAS. PLEASE HELP.

I have had a SuperCubeI for about a year now that I use in my music only system. I have nothing but good things to say about the sound and integration of this speaker into my system. I have it hooked up via stereo interconnects from the pre-outs of my Classe integrated amplifier and I am running my Soliloquy 5.0s in full range. The other subwoofers I have tried with my system were the M&K MX-200 and the Sunfire Truesub Signature. Neither of these woofers had the same ability to blend with my speakers that the Def Tech does. My only complaint is that the SuperCube doesn't have an IEC connector to facilitate the use of an aftermarket power cable. I ended up adding one and upgrading the power cable which gave a noticable improvement in the sound.
I got a Supercube 1 when they first came out. It is an awesome little package. Absolutely thought the world of it. Then Definitive went and brought out the Reference as a footnote to their new products this year. No bells and whistles, no hoopla. Well I went and heard one and it is sensational. I sold the Supercube and bought the Reference. There is absolutely no discernable distress in this speaker at any listening level. If it is cranked, you cannot stay in the room with it- but it still sounds good. I arrived home the other day- my kid had it cranked. I felt the bass before I got out of my car - I was parked in the driveway. I love this speaker.
I did not have a very pro-longed exposure to them, there is a chain of stores called SOUNDTRACK AUDIO and they have these in thier theater rooms for demo purposes, this same music chain is also called Ultimate Electronics and Audio King (i believe) in several states, if they have them there thats one place you can look.

Anyways, i was messing around with one of them and it diddnt take me long to realize i definatly want one of them. Personally i think they make fantastic subwoofers.

I still have a Definitive Technology ProSub 200, it sounds great wth movies and also blends in with music pretty well.

Definitive Technologys makes great home theater gear, very hard to beat especially with for the price. you might be better off getting something else like a REL if you want something for just music, but i would never hesitate to recommend thier subwoofers.

good times good times....
