Which can be within your reach.

For me it’s Studer deck. I just can't justify the expense, at least not yet.

Actually, occasionally I find myself wishing I still had my old Infinity RS-iibs that were severely water damaged during an Army move within what was then West Germany.  Oh, I am sure that my Fyne Audio F-702 speakers outshine them, but I wonder if the more modern amplifiers and cabling available could make them really shine again--and they looked pretty darned good in the living rooms of our abodes in Heidelberg and Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, in Virginia, and in Pennsylvania.  Other than that, perhaps a half-power version of the McIntosh MC-451 Dual Mono power amplifier, with say 75 watts and 150 watts for the tube and solid state output sections for my current speakers ... and that might also weigh a big less than its current 133 pounds!

I have always admired the Dhalquest DQ-10 speakers. They display the crossover components rather than treating them like indecent exposure. I remember hearing how clear and detailed they sound. Unfortunately, they are too wide to fit in my home and, more important, Magnepan .7 speakers that fit outclass the DQ-10's while fitting in my limited space.

+1 on the vintage Infinity

I have a pair of original RS-II. I rebuilt (and modestly upgraded) the crossovers.

They are excellent speakers that imo outshine a lot of what's on the market today, when they're in good nick that is.

They need a LOT of power if they're going to give their best though. I have Classé monoblocks driving them, they're a good match but honestly big Krells wouldn't be out of place.

IRS Beta next...?
