Any good stereo shops in Dayton or Cincinnati Ohio

Are there any good stereo shops in Dayton or Cincinnati Ohio? I have Friday and Saturday to browse around and can head towards either city. I know about Audible Elegance in Cincy, but are there any others?

Thanks,
Chuck

Chuck,

I think you are out of luck. We are, uh, underserviced, here in the Queen City (Cinci). Incredibly we have several boutique manufacturers, i.e. Wavelength Audio, UltraFi/Larry Moore Audio, Morrow Audio and Parker Audio, but not much in the way of retail establishments.

Sorry for the disappointment. If you are interested in SET amps, a killer USB DAC or single driver speakers, you might be able to hook up with Larry Moore for a demo. Morrow Audio is about 1/2 South of Cincinnati. You might want to check Mike's website and see if his stuff interest you. If so, you might be able to set up a demo.

Parts Express is in Springboro, just South of Dayton. I stop in there regularly when driving up to Dayton.

Enjoy,

I live right between Dayton and Cinci and it is pretty dry around here. Audio Etc in Centerville and Carlin Audio in Kettering are the only two I know of. Parts Express is just a couple miles the road but it is basically a warehouse with a small store front really just meant for picking up orders.

Reubent, I couldn't help but notice we both have a simple setup with monitors and the same tv. Must be an Ohio thing.
Don't recall the name of the place in Kettering, but I stopped in to listen to Vandersteens a couple of years ago and was treated well. They spent time letting me hear the 1C, 2CE sigs, and the 3As. Very nice. I think I found them on Vanderteen's web site.
Geared4me,

My system just got more simple tonight. I just bought a pair of Quad 12L Active speakers and have them hooked directly to the variable output of my EVS level 2 mod'd Oppo 970 Universal player. It can't get much more simple than that! 2 components, great sound.......

BTW, I've thoroughly enjoyed the Panasonic EDTV plasma for the last few years. I waited until the price dropped to $2500 to buy it! It's crazy what you can buy today for $2500!

Enjoy,

Yes there is a place in Oakwood (S. Dayton suburb), on Far Hills that has some nice gear. I was in last summer and listened to the new Thiel's (their flagship new model) They also had Jm Labs, Dyaudio, CJ, etc..... Pretty nice guy's too.

Chris
Thanks everyone,

Hanson Audio Video that Chris just mentioned seems to be the place to seek out. I just like checking out the higher end stuff that I haven't heard yet and shooting the bull, that stereophile thing.

Everyone,

I did go to Hanson Audio Video Saturday and had a great time. Everyone was knowledgeable, helpful and very nice. I spent three hours listening to various setups. It would be well worth anyone who's serious about taking their system to the next level (whatever that level might be) to check Hanson Audio Video out.

Chuck
Chuck,

That's great to hear. I live within an hour of Dayton and I've never heard of Hanson Audio Video. I'll have to check it out.

What did you hear there?

Reubent,

I listened to the SimAudio Super Nova CD Player and I-7 Integrated Amp because they were the closest components to mine. They then switched between the Dynaudio C-1's and the JMLab Micro Utopia Be because I was wanting to see what other monitors are in the league of my system. They have put together a unique and fantastic way of auditioning pieces that you need to experience for yourself.

It was really nice just talking to them, I'm terrible remembering names, but I talked to the owner and the general manager. The general manager turned me on to Michael Hedges too, I bought that CD that very night. The GM has a degree in music from the Univ. of Dayton and the owner grew up in his Dad's stereo store. They has a wealth of knowledge together.
