Pricing for a good deal is irrelevant if the speakers are not a good match for your amp. The StereoTimes review seems to question using a tube amp with the R-7. I agree that buying a nice pair of new speakers at half of retail is a killer deal, however if they don't match well with your amp, it is not a smart purchase.
Any Experience with Rega RS-7
A couple of dealers here in Canada (1 in Ontario and 1 in Alberta) are selling Rega's RS-7 sealed box new old-stock. The are half retail.
Not the current model but possibly a good deal.
