I believe going up to firmware 2.20 and higher required a hardware change. New DSP chip, etc.

Anthem AV 20 version upgrade issue
I just donloaded v2.21 to upgrade my Anthem AVM 20 from v2.08. When I did the install, it failed twice. I have never had a single problem with the unit in the past.
When I tried to install the upgrade for the third time, the unit made a horrible sparking sound from the left side. The install failed again and now if I turn the unit on, it makes that sound and shuts off. Did the upgrade kill my pre-amp?
