I wasn't aware of John's music, but the story sounds absolutely tragic. The roll-call for this type of story is unfortunately a very long one.
Another death in Woodstock
Just got home from a jam session tonight where I was stunned to hear of the death of John Herald, a wonderful tenor singer-songwriter and fine bluegrass musician, best known for his work with the Greenbriar Boys. John did so much for that genre of music--I saw him several times and was always moved by his singing and playing. His songs were recorded by Maria Muldaur, Linda Ronstadt, and others. Tragically, he took his own life, destitute, terribly ill and unable to reach out to close friends for help. Roll on John....you'll be missed.
