Amps on top?

I have read that an amp should not be on your top shelf, but rather on the bottom

Is there anything to this?  Assuming a well-isolated system throughout.
TIA

       Chrome was an option on my Cary monoblock chassis, but: I went the cheap route on 'em (black).       Both would show the dust anyway, so...

        Keep trying to convince myself: I'm not lazy, just fuel-efficient.

1)" The companies that mount their output tubes on vertically-orientated circuit boards..."

 2) "...but those tubes are not mounted on circuit boards inside an amp enclosure, where the heat would flow past circuit components. ""

       1) The boards on which the driver and output tube sockets reside, are vertically oriented, per your objection.

        2) boards: inside    tubes: outside  (the exception)

        Another, "cool looking" V8 amplifier, complete with engine stand:

                                    Four-stroke operation?

                                  GOTTA love the chrome!

" The companies that mount their output tubes on vertically-orientated circuit boards are apparently not concerned with that issue. I am."

                          Agreed, but: there are exceptions

                                                   ie:

       Designed to set up their own airflow, but: look like they could do a good job convection roasting one's Prime Rib, if, "on the bottom".

"...mine is 2 slabs of cast-off 1.5" stone of indeterminate nature with a beefy pine frame....takes 2 to move empty...

A bedroom 'lift' would help get me out of bed...not so much 'up'....I can still manage That by self, thanks for not asking.... ;) *LOL*"

                      A good Carpenter lets no, "wood" go to waste, right?

                                                       KUDOS!

@asvjerry -

"....I need one of those in the bedroom...

(Stop that....nasty boy....)"

                        Into swings, are we?

@asvjerry

                                          Forget that Bobcat!

        Order one of these*, sized to the corners of your room/ceiling and add a chain fall.

                        Moving those stands and amps will be a snap!

          With a pair of chain falls, the amps could REALLY be moved, "on top",

        Wrap the legs with the right materials and they'll do double duty as corner Bass traps.

                                 Now: THAT'S a system upgrade!

                                         (WAF notwithstanding)

                                             Happy Listening!

     Things got very crowded after the divorce shrank my listening room.

     The amps were on top, until I started Jonesing for my vinyls and TT.

      Had the scrap metal, 1/2" Corian, a huge granite leveling table, mill, lathe and welder at hand, so: figured I could probably come up with a way to straddle the two subs that were built to stand vertically, next to the Acoustats, for which I used to have room.

       All I had to buy was the 1" granite, felt for between that and the Corian, the powder coating job and 8 brass nuts, to lock the adjusting spikes that I turned out of 1/4-28 SHCSs, into the legs.

        Posted the result in my system pics.

        Haven't dusted this year (is it Spring yet?) and: the wallpaper was there when I moved in*.
