Altec Valencia speaker wire/internal Crossover to horn/woofer wire orientation
I just recently returned to the stock crossover after many years with an aftermarket new production crossover. I didn't recall the exact orientation of wiring. The following is when viewing the speaker from the back side. For crossover to drivers I have it as follows. The horn: red wire to right and black wire to left. The woofer: green to right and black wire to left. Then for speaker cable I have black cable to the right and red cable to the left on bare (screw) binding posts. The latter is of course backward to what one would normally see on most any speaker. I have photos but not sure if I can upload here. I did play the Cardas Audio Test LP and according to their Test sound in left channel and Right channel it is where it should be. I have seen old Altec Valencia photos and they show an internal hookup as opposite of what I have, which is both black wires on the Right of both horn and woofer. My guess is I may have it backward, but since I have the speaker wire backward as well, it is performing correctly. I don't know if I should just leave it alone knowing the Cardas disc told me I was correct.
