I know the bdp105 on sacd and CD playback did not hold a candle to my old Pioneer DVD/sacd spinner. Very dry, sterile and hollow sounding it was. Probably lucky I did not get a 205 ....lol. Just going to buy a used bdp103 to replace the older bdp93 in the ht system and call that done. To be fair to play it again, they have listed it as an auction with reserve just being at cost plus shipping. It is only members who are going to gouge each other there. |
A possible option for those who missed out from,OPPO. Just do not go crazy and push the price up to stupid levels! https://www.audiogon.com/listings/lis95568-oppo-udp-205-bluray-player-cd-sacd-players |
Sorry to tell you but yes you will be wasting your time at this stage. People who put their names down on the OPPO list from April and early May are getting the last of the stock. People after that are not going to be in luck I am afraid. I believe the list closed quite some time ago so not going to be able to even see how far back you would be. I listed in late May and was told very recently by OPPO that there were approx. 5000 people ahead of me still so not likely at all I would be seeing one. Good luck |
Re Oppo smartphones Kind of a shame they are not big here in the usa as agreed as to why they are not worried about a relatively small udp market. They know people change their phones almost as frequently as their socks in todays must have latest tech marketplace. That equates to a lot of phones sold and a lot of profit! |
Well there you go then, at least you got an offer, more than I fear some are going to receive. Your call obviously to accept or not, with the recent correspondence from Oppo I would also take a deep long look at whether it would be the right move long term RE. support and parts etc. Good luck whatever you decide! |
kpetrich Real glad you got yours and are happy with it, that is the point. However as detailed by OPPO replies, it is not a case of taking heart any longer, there are simply nowhere near enough players on the last production runs to meet demand so there ARE going to be a fair number of dissapointed people pure and simple |
I have to agree that I thought their speel on in-house manufactured parts was a little hokey. Pretty sure vast majority of internal parts would be sourced from sub contractors. There maybe a few in-house parts though and possibly that is what put the kibosh and making more. However we have their "official line " now so it is what it is. Btw my last email to them I made it clear I was sharing this information on Audiogon forums so I very much doubt it is not correct or info that they do not want public. |
And right after I posted this reply from OPPO when I asked the profit question. So there is your answer, once these runs are done it is over no matter the demand.

I do not think so. Unless the email reply from OPPO was just auto which I doubt, it does not say I missed an invitation, rather that there are a lot of names ahead . Just that seems at odds with your statement of June 24th confirmation. Maybe it was auto, maybe they are wrong. Not going to worry over it. Good luck to those who do receive one! |
Email OPPO and had a reply within 30 minutes, although not really what I wanted to read but at least it was honest, see below. " Kevin,
We've received one shipment a little over a week ago and we're expecting our last shipment to arrive in the coming week. I've looked up your email address and there's over five thousand people ahead in the queue. If that information is accurate, the player is not likely going to be available to you as there are so many ahead and we are not able to manufacture enough units for everyone in the queue.
Customer Service OPPO Digital, Inc. 162 Constitution Dr. Menlo Park, CA 94025 Service@oppodigital.com " Now I have no idea how many units per shipment but not in the order of thousands so there are definitely going to be a few disapointed people out there |
