I run my A3, which is less efficient than the A5 with Pass INT-250.
That is a 250 watt amp. No problem.
So a 300W Stereo Boulder was fine, but a 600W Mono Bryston is not?
Perhaps what you are trying to say is that at a 1/4 price of the Boulder, the Bryston, is not as good?
Try the Pass INT-250, see what you think.
I auditioned the A5 last week, it is mind-blowing good. The dealer had a very well-known ~50K€ speakers on demo he was trying to sell me at a “loss”. He eventually had to agree that the A5 blows it away, at half the price. I now have to figure out how to upgrade from my A3.
You can, of course, believe what you want, but the fact is that these are extraordinary at any price.

We are talking about the A5 here, a speaker you apparently know nothing about, yet you already assume it needs a "huge monster amp to drive it". I have heard the A5 with Octave tube integrated amplifier; it is 120W per channel, it was one of the best sound I ever heard (You, I am sure, will think that it is "nothing special").

Regardless, anyone who would spend that kind of money on a speaker should know what he is going to run it with.

@daveyf
My hearing or not hearing this speaker changes nothing about how it acts with the partnering amp...
I think it does. These are just opinions. Other people, including myself, say that you don't need a "huge monster amp to drive it," but you, of course, choose to concentrate on some random negative comment from someone with one(!!) AG post. You been thrashing Magico anywhere you can, don't you have better things to do?
@daveyf
Last I have checked a "fanboy" is a derogatory term. You have used it twice, without any real provocation, in your four posts, and on a Magico thread, where it is only reasonable to find Magico enthusiasts. Is that how you ended up barred from audio forums?
