After a (weeks) worth of listening...

What lp would you recommend the most to other members here?

I belong to several music threads and have gained much knowledge and have just as much to share..

Here is a chance to post what you've imagined is your (one) most enjoyable moment/lp of the past week of listening.

Having to choose, right now, and getting this thread started, I'd choose..

Gary Wright "The Dream Weaver"

slaw,

I haven't heard Dream Weaver in many years. Just saw your post before headed to the record store. Found a nice looking copy of the LP for $3.99. Bought it on your recommendation.

It better be good............. :~)

BTW,  I picked up a nice looking copy of Gerry Refferty's - City to City ("Baker Street") and Springsteen's -Tunnel of Love for $3.99 and $4.99 while I was at it. I'm hoping they sound as good as they look.....

Happy Weekend!
slaw,

OK, you're off the hook. "The Dream Weaver" is excellent! The SQ is very good. It's from my teen years and was very popular at that time. Brings back some good memories........
@fourwnds

John Abercrombie's - "Timeless" is one of my ALL TIME favorite instrumental songs. I bought the vinyl way back in the mid-70's and I've listened to it regularly since. The album - Timeless features John Abercrombie, Jan Hammer and Jack De Johanette. It's a great album, but the title track is "Timeless"........
@raymonda

I love Jeff Beck's "Loud Hailer". I've had it for about 6 months and it's still working for me. For me, it was the best rock record of 2016 and should have been nominated for a grammy. It's rock, it sounds great, it sound contemporary (especially considering JB is over 70 years old) and it was a political record in a political year. What more could anyone ask for? And I love the way it is recorded. I think I'll put it on now......
BTW slaw and All, the reason I haven't offered up my pick is because I was on vacation last week and then had my system torn apart. Just got the TT back in the system today, so haven't listened all week. Maybe I'll jump in next week with a pick.
@raymonda

I wasn't siding with the political bend of "Loud Hailer". Just saying' it was a political record in a political year. That alone should have gotten it grammy attention. Then add the excellent guitar work, raw singing and interesting production, and it should have gotten more recognition. I really like the record. Thanks for the nomination......

Happy Listening!
I can already tell this is going to be a week of multiple listens to Pete Townshend's - White City. What an album. I've been listening to it off/on since 1985. This week in ON........

If you are at all interested in Pete Townshend, go out to YouTube and watch the short movie - White City. Love it! Wish there were a high quality video version of it available. I bought an original VHS copy and the picture quality is horrible.
First of all, I Love Live Recordings. I also love great Americana and Alt-Country. This week I've been listening to Jame McMurtry and the Heartless Bastards - "Live in Aught-Three". I love this record! Makes me wish I was in whatever "bar" this was recorded at, standing at the bar, drinking' a few beers and enjoying the show........

Great songs and well played.......
The Doobie Brothers - "What Were Once Vices are now Habits". Just Wow! Great record that I've been enjoying for about 40 years or so....... Listened to it several times over the last week or two.
I'm on my 4th listen of Roger McGuinn's - "Back From Rio" this week. Really outstanding recording, all the way through. Can believe I shelved it for the last 10 years. Maybe I need to take a look through my collection for more hidden gems. It's a winner........
Beck - "Morning Phase"

Holy Cow! I don't know what I was doing in 2014 when this was released, but somehow, I missed it. Got a copy on vinyl for my birthday on New Year's Eve, but didn't get a chance to listen to it until this week. Well, since then I listened to it 4 times and it is incredible. I had head of the record and knew it won a couple of Grammy Awards, but I put no faith in the grammys. Well, they got this one right! It's a fantastic album and I love the way it sounds. Big, wide, wall of sound, with lots of big, wide overdubbed vocals and strings. Really good stuff IMHO.
@ghosthouse and @slaw - I don't have Mutations, but I will check it out. I'm slowly building a complete catalog of all of Beck's standard studio records.

GH, I'm aware of Moby, and I hear his work occasionally on Radio Paradise. However, I've have not yet invested any time or effort into exploring his work. Am I missing anything?
@slaw -
You should try and find the lp. It is a reference recording!
I think i will.........
@slaw - Little Village is indeed a Super Group. A Ry Cooder, Nick Lowe, Jim Keltner and John Hiatt combo could not be described as anything less. I've had the S/T release on CD since it was release back in 1991. I've always enjoyed it, but I've also always felt it could have, and should have, been better considering the talent. That said, "Big Love", "Do You Want My Job" and "Don't Think About Her When You're Trying to Drive" are good enough to keep me coming back over all these years.

Thanks for the reminder. I played a bit of it this morning while cleaning records......
@bdp24 - Yep, I was aware that it is the same lineup. Awesome that you got to see them together. I can totally understand why it was a memorable music moment for you. I'm jealous...
@slaw - I only have "see the Light" on CD, but I like it. Always have.......
The Stone Roses - "Second Coming"

I just bought it on CD. It was $5 and I wasn't sure I was going to like it, so I did not invest in the LP. Anyway, LOVE IT after 4-5 listens. It might be better than the S/T album. A few more listens will be need to pick a win, lose or draw......

TT
Well, this week's most played LP has been The Guess Who "Share The Land". I had never heard it before, but was familiar with the hits. Anyway, found a copy in the "new today" used record bin at my LRS and picked it up for a few dollars. Love It! I've been all the way through it 4 times so far this week. Great stuff......
Hey Slaw - I've been traveling and not keeping up on my music. Just saw your post about ARS - "Champagne Jam". Great record. It's been in my semi-regular rotation for something like 30 years..

Happy Friday!
@slaw - I love The Soft Boys - "Underwater Moonlight" ! A Great Album featuring the great Robyn Hitchcock. The song - "The Queen of Eyes" may be one of the best pop rock songs EVER!
Brewer and Shipley - "Tarkio"

I had never heard this record until I found this sealed original release in the used bin at my LRS. $5.99 later and I was out the door with a fresh sealed copy of this 1970 record. I had only heard the single "One Toke Over the Line". Always enjoyed the song. The album is similar as far as musical style goes. I really like it a lot.
Bob Welch - "French Kiss". Re-discovered treasure on my record shelf........
Neil Diamond - "Tap Root Manuscript"

Beautiful, especially side 2 - The African Trilogy

Worth listening nonstop for a week.......
